De Graafschap has contracted Mahi for three seasons and does not pay a transfer fee. The attacker played fifty official matches at FC Utrecht, in which he scored thirteen goals and seven assists. Last season, the attacker came out on a rental basis for SC Cambuur.
“I’m super happy to be here,” said Mahi on his new club’s website. “I believe in the ambition the club has expressed and the plan they have for the team and me.” Technical manager Peter Bijvelds is also happy. “He has shown that he can score.”

“The prospect of playing time was limited for Mimoun Mahi this season at FC Utrecht,” explains technical director Jordy Zuidam on the Utrecht site. “We talked to Mimoun about his situation and thought along with him when De Graafschap reported for him.”
Mahi previously played for Sparta Rotterdam, FC Groningen and FC Zurich. He is also a two-time international from Morocco. De Graafschap already strengthened itself this summer with Donny Warmerdam and Thijs Jansen (rental), who came over from Ajax and Feyenoord respectively. The Achterhoekers will start the competition against ADO Den Haag on Friday evening.
