Millionaire credit advances to finance fishing in the country

(CRHoy.com) -A millionaire international credit to finance the fishing and sustainable aquaculture in the country advances in legislative Assembly.

It is a loan for $ 75 million negotiated by the Executive Power with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BIRF) which was endorsed by the Environment Commission congressional.

The resources would go to the Costa Rican Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Incopesca) to improve the management of fishing and aquaculture activity in Costa Rica, in order to increase the benefits of priority resources for the national economy.

To do this, it is proposed to develop and improve value chains and strengthen participatory mechanisms for social and environmental sustainability.

The first of the credit objectives is to increase the catching and landing of tuna in the country by the national and foreign fleet.

It also plans to support the efforts of the fishing communities to recover fisheries through participatory programs and incentives for sustainable management.

The bill will now go to Legislative Plenary for your discussion and final vote.
