At the latest in mid-February, 950,000 families in our country will receive 80 euros in deposit. This is a measure taken by the government last year to compensate for rising energy prices.

Due to the historically high prices for electricity and natural gas, the government has taken a number of measures. For example, the social rates for gas and electricity were not only expanded, but also extended until the end of March 2022. A premium of 80 euros was also provided to mitigate the price increase within the social rate.
In concrete terms, citizens who were entitled to the social tariff for electricity on 30 September last year will receive a one-off lump sum of 80 euros, the Federal Public Service Economy announced on Friday. They will receive that amount directly and automatically from the supplier that provided the electricity on September 30, 2021. It is therefore not necessary to submit an application.
The suppliers must contact the rights holders before the end of January, and then have twelve working days to pay. In total, this concerns about 950,000 families.
