Zoé Emsalem’s eco-responsible business offers various reusable products. The only thing to throw out are his old ways.
Ethique-et-toc is a boutique of a new kind in Millau, as much for the atypical profile of its manager, Zoé Emsalem, as for the products displayed on the shelves. The merchandise is intended to be 100% reusable.
“I worked as a long-distance driver for ten years. For 3 or 4 years, I turned to ecology. Little by little I stopped using what was disposable, I made my first compost , etc. And this summer I finally opened my shop in this zero waste spirit! “
“It’s a human trade”
Zoé Emsalem works with six different designers all having ecology as a common thread. Long-lasting sponges, reusable paper towels, fabric make-up removing wipes, everything is eco-responsible. “Each of my designers comes from Aveyron or Hérault. They all make different products so no one is stepping on each other. I pay close attention to the origin of the fabrics, which all come from France. selected my creators on several criteria: you had to have a Siret number and I admit that I favored people in financial difficulty “, says Zoe.
The young woman maintains a special bond with her collaborators, whom she visits every two weeks. “We exchange a lot, it’s a human trade”, she specifies.
“The Bee Wrap replaces plastic film or aluminum”
In her shop, Zoé Emsalem offers unique products such as the Bee Wrap. This fabric made of beeswax from Lake Salagou can be used on dishes or even food. “It replaces plastic wrap or foil. There will never be a need to buy it again when you have a Bee Wrap. It wipes off with a damp sponge and that’s it.”, explains Zoe.
In addition to this kind of innovative object, the manager offers products that are starting to become more democratic, such as washable cloth sanitary napkins: “When I see the price they cost in supermarkets… Here it is much more correct”, comments Zoe.
Full of convictions and ambitions, Zoé Emsalem wishes to add her own creations to her store: “I make natural soaps but I am still working on the recipe”, she smiles before concluding: “I believe in it, people are able to change their ways. “
