/ world today news/ Sofia Municipality allocates only 1% of its budget for health care in Sofia and uses only about 80% of it. The scandalous fact was presented by the chairwoman of the political group of the BSP in the Capital City Council, Milka Hristova, during a round table on the topic of “Healthcare in the capital”.
The forum is part of the series of discussions organized by the BSP City Council in Sofia. Apart from Milka Hristova in the discussion of health care problems in
In the capital, left-wing MP Emil Rainov, former Minister of Health Tanya Andreeva, Professor Nevena Tsacheva, Municipal Councilor Anna Slavova, as well as many specialist doctors and representatives of civil associations joined in. The round table was also attended by the leader of the BSP City Council in Sofia, Kaloyan Pargov, under whose auspices the series of thematic events are held.
“The already notorious municipal health card is still missing, as well as a national one. This leads to the vicious ideas in the heads of some mayors and heads of the SO to close municipal medical facilities due to financial problems. And this is without taking into account the need to health services in the regions of Sofia, commented Milka Hristova.
For the years that I have been a municipal councilor, in words and figures, only 1% of the budget has been allocated to health care, as much as the statistics can capture. The sum of BGN 13,181,000 is behind this percentage. Just for comparison, I will mention that the capital program of SO is about 700 million BGN. And 28 million BGN was allocated from it last year only for the repair of the Lion Bridge. On top of that, despite the meager funds they plan for health care, they manage to absorb only about 80%, which is a very worrying fact. The amount of BGN 1,071,000 is allocated for capital costs of the municipal hospitals, as well as those for outpatient care, which have a very outdated material and technical base. And of them, only 28% was used last year,” added the municipal councilor. She also gave another example – the repair of the NDK, where BGN 280,000 was allocated for just two of the toilets.
According to her, only one conclusion can be drawn from all these facts – the ruling majority in Sofia is currently completely neglecting the topic of “health care” in the capital. Milka Hristova defined this as a very serious defect in the implementation of local politics. “For years, health care has not been a priority in the Metropolitan Municipality, and it is time to pay serious attention,” she said categorically.
The BSP group in the Capital Municipality pointed out 11 specific problems of the municipal health care, which should be given very serious attention. In addition to the lack of a municipal health card, they mostly emphasized the lack of health offices in municipal schools, as well as nurses in kindergartens. The municipal councilors from the left have also drawn up a list of ideas for solving these problems, in addition to pointing out opportunities for development in the sector. The main emphasis in them is the prevention and prevention of socially significant diseases.
