Milk is one of the most consumed foods in our families; the breakfast for young and old that is rarely lacking in Italian homes. There is, however, a particularity that perhaps not everyone knows. You have to be careful how it is stored to avoid unwelcome surprises.
There are now infinite varieties of this drink on the market. Each of us has his own preference; there are those who consume it whole, those skimmed and those with high digestibility. However, one thing is common to all: the attention that must be paid to store milk. It is possible to fall into a very common serious mistake that could alter the properties of the product.
Milk, watch out for expiration
It is recommended by doctors and pediatricians to provide very important nutrients for the body. One of these is calcium, which is essential for the health of our bones and joints. It is a concentrate of well-being as it is rich in vitamins and nutrients, but be careful because it is a product that easily undergoes deterioration.
The expiration of fresh milk occurs in a few days even if today bottles with microfiltered liquid are available on the market, which possess organoleptic properties that are resistant up to 10/15 days after bottling.
All of us, surely, are used to store the milk bottles in the special compartment obtained from the refrigerator door. Hardly anyone knows what this is an error coarse which exposes milk to a risk of earlier spoilage.
It is recommended to put the milk in the central door of the refrigerator
As we know, the refrigerator does not have a constant temperature, but there are compartments that maintain thermal equilibrium and others that are more exposed to sudden changes in temperature. The refrigerator door is one of these and for this reason the milk should never be placed on that shelf. The sudden change in temperature causes a premature deterioration which affects the expiry date of the product which, consequently, will no longer be the one shown on the label.
All of us, several times a day, open and close the refrigerator producing sudden changes in temperature that become dangerous for the resistance of the milk. This drink needs to remain at a more or less fixed temperature and that is why the ideal shelf for storing it is another.
Excessive temperature changes are rarely recorded in the center of the refrigerator and that is why it would be advisable to store the bottles at a central level. It is obviously of fundamental importance to respect the shorter or longer expiry date since milk is among those products that lose their freshness and alter their composition of nutrients and vitamins in a very short time.
