The Armenian-Azerbaijani War is heating up
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIRUT – Militias from Lebanon, Syria and Latin America joined Armenia to fight Azerbaijan as the conflict between the two countries escalated in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Report Radio France International (RFI), about 30 volunteer militias received crash training before joining the Armenian forces on the border. Some of them reportedly never wielded weapons before.
“Since the start of the conflict, so many (volunteer militias) have registered that some are still waiting in Yerevan to be called in to support those who are fighting,” RFI wrote.
The volunteers who spoke on condition of anonymity described the dive experience in Nagorno-Karabakh. “You have to bring them down or they will bring you down,” said one of them.
Quoted from DailySabah, Azerbaijan’s head of the press service, Colonel Vagif Dargahli, said the Armenian army had asked for mercenaries from Syria and other Middle Eastern countries. The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkey, Khazar Ibrahim, previously confirmed the same claim.
Ibrahim pointed out that people from other countries joined the conflict to support Yerevan. He said terrorist groups were also fighting between Armenian ranks. Among those involved included the PKK and the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) to dive into the Nagorno-Karabakh region and provide them with weapons.
