Military expert Robert Farley assessed the chances of the United States in waging a war at the same time as Russia and China. As he wrote in his article for the 19FortyFive portal, Washington will not be able to hold out for long, fighting on two fronts at once with the indicated countries.

The expert examines a hypothetical situation when hostilities will be conducted at the same time in the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean with China and in Europe, in particular in the Baltic States, with Russia. Farley noted, as in World War II, the US military “will bear the brunt of defending Europe, while the navy will focus on the Pacific. The US Air Force will play a supporting role in both theaters of war. “
The States, fighting with the PRC, will use all their naval forces, since their allies are not interested in hostilities in this region and would prefer to stay on the sidelines.
“Japan or India may be interested in the South China Sea, although this hardly guarantees their participation in the war (or the benevolence of their neutrality),” he said.
Regarding the theater of military operations in Europe, the author believes, here Washington can count on the support of NATO allies. Farley suggested that the Russian Federation would be able to seize part of the Baltic States, having suffered heavy losses from the aviation of the North Atlantic Alliance, and then, probably, would not be able to hold the occupied territory for a long time.
The expert writes that the European allies have sufficient strength to achieve a “strategic and political” victory, then the necessary funds can be transferred to another front.
The United States still has the possibility of a war on two fronts, thanks to the power of NATO, as well as the presence of the “most formidable army” in the world.
“However, it should be emphasized that this situation will not last forever. The United States cannot maintain this level of dominance indefinitely and in the long term it will have to choose its obligations carefully, ”the author of the article sums up.
