Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Naftali Bennett praised his country’s friendship with the US, after the US House of Representatives voted to give Tel Aviv $1 billion for its Iron Dome missile defense system.

“Thanks to the members of the House of Representatives, Democrats and Republicans, for their outstanding support for Israel and commitment to its security. Anyone who tries to challenge this security received an overwhelming response today,” Bennett said on Twitter Al Arabiya, Friday (24/9/2021).
Thanks to members of the US House of Representatives who supported the bill, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid also expressed his gratitude.
“I am grateful for the overwhelming bipartisan support for Israel and the solid commitment to our security demonstrated today with the vote on replenishing the Iron Dome missile defense system,” he said.
“This support reaffirms the special relationship between our two countries, which is rooted in shared values and strategic interests,” he added.
The US House of Representatives voted strongly in favor of the Iron Dome bill, backing it by 420 votes to nine, just two days after it was removed from the broader spending bill.
Democratic lawmakers removed $1 billion in military funding to Israel from the law on Tuesday after liberals in the House of Representatives raised concerns and objections.
