Miley Cyrus’ ex-boyfriend swims at the World Cup in Berlin
A pop star swims in Berlin: Australian Cody Simpson, ex-boyfriend of singer Miley Cyrus, will compete in the World Cup in the federal capital next weekend (October 6th to 8th). The declared goal of the 26-year-old, who achieved gold status with two singles in the USA, is the Summer Olympics in Paris.
“I can understand that people question it if they don’t know my swimming background. Imagine hearing that Justin Bieber was training for the 400-meter dash or something,” Simpson once said: “But I do swim for myself and to see what I’m capable of.”
Simpson set age group records in Australia as a child before moving to the USA at the age of 13 to pursue his music career. He gained increased notoriety through his relationship with Cyrus, which broke up in 2020.
Simpson then tried his hand at the pool again, even made it to the final of the Australian Olympic qualification for the 100m butterfly and missed the ticket for the 2021 Games in Tokyo by just 1.3 seconds.
The 2024 Olympic standard for Paris is 51.67 seconds for the 100m butterfly and 48.34 for the 100m freestyle. Simpson’s best times currently stand at 51.78 and 49.11.
