On Thursday evening, the song ‘Edge of Midnight (Midnight Sky Remix)’ was released online. The song is a combination of Miley’s own single ‘Midnight Sky’, a hit released in August, and ‘Edge of Seventeen’. This song was released by Nicks in 1981 and is from her first solo album Pretty Woman. For ‘Midnight Sky’ Cyrus had already used a sample of Nicks’ song, but they have now actually worked together for the remix.
‘I loved singing with her’
“Stevie Nicks has always been my idol and source of inspiration. It’s an honor to call her my friend and colleague, ”Cyrus writes on Instagram. Stevie Nicks shared on her Instagram: “Miley … Magical! I loved singing with her!” Cyrus is not the first singer to use ‘Edge Of Seventeen’ as an inspiration for a song. For example, Destiny’s Child used a sample of Nicks’ song for the song ‘Bootylicious’.
