Liverpool took the closest journey than any other English team during the group phase Champions League. Followed Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.
The 2020/2021 Champions League group draw took place on Thursday (1/10/2020) evening WIB. Europe’s 32 best teams are placed into eight different groups.
Liverpool as Premier League champions are joined in Group D with Ajax Amsterdam, Atalanta and FC Midtjylland. Meanwhile, Manchester City filled Group C with FC Porto, Olympiakos, and Olympique Marseille.
Manchester United are included in Group H with Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and Istanbul Basaksehir. There is also Chelsea in Group E and will meet Sevilla, Krasnodar and Rennes.
Among the four English teams competing in the group round Champions League, Liverpool to be the club that takes the closest away trip. Launch Daily MailThe Reds’ farthest away party was played when they traveled to Atalanta’s headquarters in Bergamo, a distance of 1,611 km from Merseyside.
Liverpool’s trip to two other cities, Amsterdam and Midtjylland, is considered close, namely as far as 539 km and 863 km. Total Sadio Mane et al will cover a distance of 2,997 km during the group round Champions League.
The farthest journey to one place must be felt Chelsea. Frank Lampard’s squad will play an away party to the Krasnodar headquarters in southern Russia, with a distance of 2,947 km from London, or almost close to Liverpool’s total route in the group stage.
MU also feels a long journey when they have to meet Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey. The club headquarters which is reportedly interested in Mesut Oezil is 2,699 km from Manchester.
There is also City’s farthest trip, when they visited Olympiacos in Greece, a distance of 2,623 km from Manchester. However, Pep Guardiola’s squad has traveled the furthest total of up to 5,085 km when added to their away matches to Porto (1,450 km) and Marseille (1,012 km).
