Milan Stock Market Positive After Wall Street: Ftse Mib Index Marks +0.64%

Milan positive after Wall Street

Stock market still positive in the afternoon after the start on Wall Street, without any particular changes since the middle of the session. The Ftse Mib index marks +0.64% at 30,270 points. Piazza Affari recovers positions on the eve of the ECB meeting which will not reserve any surprises on rates, but from which we are mostly expecting indications on future monetary policy moves. The markets are moving in the wake of the quarterly reports and also the news from China, which has announced that it will soon cut the compulsory reserve ratio for banks by 0.5 percentage points, a measure designed to counteract the slowdown in growth. On the macro front, good news today from the PMI indices of France, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Eurozone as a whole, which were also growing in January, although still below the 50 point threshold that divides the contraction from the expansion phase.

Banking and utilities stocks are highlighted on the list. Among the first, Monte Paschi accelerates with +3.8%, Bpm also does well (+1.6%) and Bper with +1.2%, with Intesa +1.6% and Unicredit +1.7%. In energy, the big ones showed little movement, A2A rose to 1.2% and Hera to +3.2%, the oil companies were positive, with Eni +0.6%, Saipem +2.1%. Among the other blue chips, Tim lost 1.2% after Vivendi asked the European Commission to examine the role of the Treasury in the sale of the network. Furthermore, Stellantis is down (-1.1%) also following the political controversies of the last few days, Diasorin and Campari are also down.
