The 2021/22 football season is definitely over, which means we can look back at which players played the most minutes during it. The table of the ten busiest footballers in Europe has traditionally been dominated by defenders and players from the English Premier League.
It is in England that footballers have to play the most matches. In addition to domestic competition and European cups, they also play the FA Cup and EFL Cup. The stopper was placed on the number 1 section Antonio Rüdiger, who played a total of 61 matches in the Chelsea and German national team jerseys last season and 5,645 minutes, respectively. From next year, however, Antonio Rüdiger will be a stable part of Real Madrid’s defense, as he is definitively leaving “The Blues” after five years.
In second place is perhaps a bit surprisingly striker and not defender. He’s a Liverpool forward Mohamed Salahwho presented himself in 66 duels and spent a total of 5,454 minutes on the lawn.
Dutch tracker “The Reds” closes the first three Virgil van Dijk, which played 60 matches last year, or 5,430 minutes. The other five players from the English Premier League also made it into the top five – Sadio Mané (Liverpool) a João Cancelo (Manchester City).
The first footballer in the TOP 10 who is not from the English Premier League is our tracker Milan Škriniar. He played a total of 59 matches or 5,323 minutes in the jersey of Inter and the Slovak national team.
