On the ice, Milan Lucic is tough. He shows up to destroy his opponent … and even if it has worked less well for a few years, this is how he is recognized.
Among CH fans, he is hated. The former Bruins had his moments at the heart of the Canadian / Bruins rivalry, which didn’t help him make friends in the metropolis.
But behind this bullfighter on the ice hides a man in mourning.
We never talk about it, but Lucic is another proof that players are more than hockey players. Six years ago, in 2015, Lucic lost his father, who committed suicide.
Such a tragic story. He was just 59 years old. ????

At the time, in April 2015, Lucic was playing in Boston. The team ultimately did not make the playoffs and the season was drawing to a close, which allowed Lucic to come home and take the time to recover.
Because, as you can imagine, it hasn’t been easy for him. It took years for him to recover.
His father was tough on him. This is undoubtedly what shaped the man he was, but also the player. His father’s discipline helped him to reach the highest level.
Lucic therefore had to learn to understand that he cannot control what his father did. He must move forward in life, even if it is not easy.
He also says that talking about it helped him a lot to get through this ordeal, which was extremely difficult – and still is today.
