MILANO – The Festival dedicated to children’s rights and youth participation is born in the Lombard capital Land of Mentitle: “You’re right. Milan for the rights of children, girls and adolescents”. With events spread across various points of the city, the festival is organized by Land of Mentogether with the Guarantor of the Rights of Children and Adolescents of the Municipality of Milan, is scheduled from today to 26 October, inserted in a week full of initiatives of the Municipality of Milan dedicated to childhood issues.
The well-being of children and adolescents is at the center. The program focuses on the well-being of children and adolescents and will address a different theme every day, through meetings in schools and events open to the public, workshops, theatrical performances and sporting activities.
Tuesday 22 October. The Festival opened with a focus on the role of businesses and the opportunities of Artificial Intelligence for the future of young people. The events of the first day, sponsored by Sustainability Makerswill be hosted by Riccardo Catella Foundationactive since 2005 with the mission of spreading the culture of sustainability in local development, in particular through the education and social inclusion of young generations.
Wednesday 23 October. Aarà dedicated to the rights and participation of young people, with a meeting, organized in collaboration with the Association of Meritorious Citizens of Milan in the Conference Room of Palazzo Reale from 10 to 12, entitled “Youth fragility and poverty: the commitment of the Meritorious and the example of the Spazio Indifesa Hub in Milan”, in the presence of Silvio Premoli, Guarantor for the rights of children and adolescents of the City of Milan, Riccardo Bettiga, Regional Guarantor for the protection of minors and fragilities, and Elena Buscemi , President of the City Council.
Thursday 24 October. The meetings will be hosted at the former Manifattura Tabacchi, a significant place that the EOS – Edison Orizzonte Sociale Foundation, in line with its mission, enhances as a cinema and culture hub for the city of Milan through numerous youth activation and participation projects. The day will be dedicated to the topic of child maltreatment, the most effective strategies for prevention and combating it.
Friday 25th. Again at Riccardo Catella Foundation the events will focus on mental health, a crucial topic for the new generations, with discussions on issues such as youth distress, social withdrawal and the challenges linked to the digital world. In the evening, at the Munari Theatre, the show “Nella Rete” will be presented, a theatrical performance to address the issues of bullying and cyberbullying, created in collaboration with the Teatro del Buratto. Saturday 26 OctoberThe festival will end with a big party dedicated to participation. We start with Unconventional MUSA event with the participation of GEOPOP and ScuolaZoo, to discover science for human rights through MUSA, the university museum of anthropological, medical and forensic sciences for human rights. In the afternoon, art therapy workshops and the Peace Tournament are scheduled, organized together with Municipality 9 to celebrate sport for peace, inclusion and the fight against all mafias. The tournament will, in fact, be held at the Iseo Centre, an asset confiscated from organized crime, and will take place during a day which at city level will be dedicated to assets confiscated from the mafia. To conclude, a party with an evening of music and DJ sets.
Il Festival You’re Right!. It is created in collaboration with the Guarantor for the rights of children and adolescents of the Municipality of Milan, the Mayor’s Delegate for Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Milan, Municipality 9, the Riccardo Catella Foundation which is a cultural partner and the precious support from EOS – Edison Orizzonte Sociale and BIC®. In particular, thanks Social Enterprise with Childrenie Cariplo Foundation which support the realization of the talks scheduled for 24 and 25 October and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation which supports the Unconventional MUSA event.
Who made the Festival possible. Furthermore, the many events of the festival were made possible: the Tempio del Futuro Perduto which will host the annual meeting of the Network indifesa, the Teatro del Buratto, which proposes and produces the theatrical show “Nella rete”, together with the University of Milan, and the Fondazione Isacchi Samaja, who produced the Unconventional MUSA event, Coop. Zero5, and Comunità Nuova onlus; Municipio 9, YouSport, Milano Sport, Amatori Rugby Milano, Real Affori, Rugby Milano, partner of the Torneo della Pace and the Amico Charlie ETS Youth Aggregation Centre, RIL factory, and Fondazione Aquilone, which will produce the concert and DJ set FilRouge.
