On Wednesday, Milan announce that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has undergone surgery on his left knee, with which he has had major problems during the season. The Milan club says that the operation, which was performed by doctors Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet in Lyon, France had been planning for some time.
According to Milan, the operation was successful and the prognosis is now that the 40-year-old is expected to be out of action for seven to eight months. The Serie A club explains that the operation was performed to treat an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.
Yesterday, Tuesday, Italian media reported that Ibrahimovic decided to play on, if an upcoming medical examination shows that he does not need to undergo surgery. Now the Swede has been forced to undergo surgery, which puts a big question mark around his future playing career.
However, according to Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo, who follows Milan closely, Ibrahimovic has not changed his mind about his future despite the operation: he wants to continue playing.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s current contract expires in June.
