Naples –
AC Milan beat Napoli 4-0 in the Italian League. This fantastic victory serves as a reminder to all of the Rossoneri’s rivals, that at the moment they are still the defending champions with the scudetto symbol on their chest.
Most of Diego Armando Maradona’s stadium was silent as Luciano Spalletti’s team was beaten hard by Rafael Leao et al, Monday (3/4/2023) early morning WIB. Goal after goal came through good cooperation that broke down the Napoli defense.
Rafael Leao scored the first goal through good cooperation with Brahim Diaz in the 17th minute. Then it was Diaz’s turn to get his name on the scoreboard in the 25th minute after outwitting Mario Rui and finishing with a close-range shot.
Leao added to Milan’s advantage in the 59th minute through a hard shot that lodged in the right side of Napoli’s goal which was guarded by Alex Meret. Alexis Saelemaekers completed the win by going past four Napoli players before scoring in the 67th minute.
An additional three points made Milan move up to third in the Serie A standings with 51 points, shifting Inter Milan, who had just collected 50 points. Napoli are still at the top of the standings with 71 points, but it is increasingly difficult to lock up the Scudetto this month.
Saelemaekers emphasized that this victory was a reminder that Milan should not be underestimated. Even though they had a number of bad results and it was difficult to win this season, they are still a quality team that won the title last season.
“In the last few months, people have forgotten who we are, maybe because we haven’t performed well ourselves,” Saelemaekers told DAZN after the match, quoted by Football Italia.
“We want to remind everyone that we are still the reigning champions of the Italian League and will continue to do so until the end of this season,” explained the Belgian midfielder.
