Mila Zug Southwest German runner-up in badminton

Remagen. Last weekend the Southwest German Championships in the U13 to U19 age groups took place in Worms. BC Remagen was represented by Charlotte Haevescher (U13), Erik Gebhardt (U17) and at U19 by Mila Schiebe. Unfortunately, things didn’t go so well for the two younger ones. Despite good play in the singles, Charlotte narrowly had to admit defeat in the first round. In the doubles with Imani Fasel from Bad Marienberg, she made it to the quarter-finals, but lost there against the eventual runners-up. Erik Gebhardt was a bit unlucky with the draw. In the singles he caught the eventual finalist right at the start, in the doubles together with Julian Hoß (BC Westerwald) they faced the eventual champions in the first round. Nevertheless, the game setting gives hope for the future, especially since Erik is still in his first year in this age group.

The highlight for the BCR is certainly the runner-up title for Mila Schleif in the doubles together with Sina Chalgoum (Andernach). Mila can also compete in this age group again next year. In the singles, however, she was eliminated in the first round after a close three-set game. Unfortunately, the mixed doubles with Benjamin Ridder (Bischmisheim) ended in the quarter-finals. Overall, the people of Remagen are satisfied with the performance, although with a little luck they could have achieved a little more.
