“I was born in 1983 in Chernivtsi, Ukraine,” Kunis said in a video she and Kutcher shot for the campaign. “I came to America in 1991 and have always considered myself a proud American. I love this country and everything it has done for myself and my family. But I have never been more proud to be Ukrainian than I am now.”

Kutcher continues: “We all witness the courage of the people in the country she was born in, but we also all see what the people who have chosen for their safety need now.” The couple then explain that the money they raise will go to Flexport, an organization that assists refugees with aid and goods in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova, and to Airbnb, which offers free temporary housing to refugees from Ukraine.

With a large donation from tech investor Ron Conway, who donated $2.5 million to the campaign, the fundraising on GoFundMe.org was well on its way to the first $3 million just hours after its launch Thursday night. At the time of writing, $14,734,900 has already been collected. This also includes the 3 million from Ashton and Mila.
