Mikov was categorical to Steinmeier: Sanctions against Russia have no effect –

/ world today news/ Sanctions against Russia have no effect. Europe should consider the Black Sea region as a special macro-region in which cooperation is extremely important.

This was said by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the BSP, Mihail Mikov, who met with the Foreign Minister of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, during his visit to Bulgaria. Among the main topics that were discussed was the situation in Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia.

Mikov stated the BSP’s firm position for a moderate approach to sanctions and, if possible, for their gradual removal. The leader of the left emphasized that talks with both Russians and Ukrainians should continue and it is not good to limit parliamentary contacts, Positano 20 reported.

Mihail Mikov thanked Steinmeier for his stated position that Germany will continue to support Bulgaria on the way to its accession to Schengen. “Schengen is important for Bulgaria not only for technical reasons, but also from an economic point of view. For Bulgarians, it also has an important psychological meaning, to dispel the doubt that Europe operates at two speeds and is not fair,” said Mikov. He expressed the concerns of many Bulgarian citizens that as a result of the Transatlantic Partnership and Bulgaria’s weak export opportunities, small and medium-sized businesses in the country will suffer.

The chairman of the BSP expressed gratitude to the GSDP for the long-term cooperation and personally to Steinmeier for the protection of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian doctors in Libya.
