The goals that unite you are related to strengthening the local government and this will be useful for the people, for the municipalities, for the central government”, said Mihail Mikov at a meeting of the chairman of the Association Rumen Stoyanov with mayors of settlements from the Vidin region.
Mikov participated in the forum at the invitation of Stoyanov, who is the mayor of Kalofer.
The People’s Representative supported the mayors and advised them to combine their demands in several undisputed non-political topics to be decided by the next National Assembly.
Rumen Stoyanov presented the three main questions that must be allowed and that are asked by the members of the association.
The first is that each settlement has its own delegated budget.
The second is to return the possibility of direct election of mayors in settlements with more than 100 inhabitants.
The third request is to introduce the statute of the Mayor’s Council, which will function under the Municipal Councils and in which all proposals will be discussed and the word of the mayors will be heard when they are discussed by the municipal councilors.
“You should receive a lot of support, because you have legal powers in Article 46 of the ZMSMA, including Article 70 of the Law on the Interior, to detain, but the big question is how the municipalities and the executive power ensure the opportunity to exercise these rights” , said Mikov.
He promised that he would hold talks with a representative of the people, with mayors of municipalities, with the chairman of the National Association of Municipalities, in order to get wider support for the young association of mayors of town halls.
