The fourth round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia will take place after “legal formats” have been worked out. Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President’s Office, stated this in an interview.
According to the adviser, now all proposals are in conditional working groups, in legal formats they are discussing what the final documents might look like. Only after mutual reciprocal legal formats have been worked out, a meeting will be scheduled – the fourth round of negotiations. But no one is going to drag out the fourth round of negotiations – they can take place on March 13 or 14.
According to Podolyak, the agreement between Russia and Ukraine should be “multi-component”.
“It should include several positions. First of all, positions regarding the cessation of the war itself as such. The second important point is the procedure, the speed in terms of time parameters for the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. The third part is the peace agreement itself. How will the world be guaranteed. And here we return to the key point around which everything is built – security guarantees for Ukraine so that such situations do not happen again.”
Podolyak also added that the contract should include mechanisms for compensating the restoration of infrastructure destroyed as a result of hostilities. According to him, we are talking about tens of billions of dollars.
