/ world today news/ABV is not a danger for the division of the left because it does not offer a left-wing alternative, they do not provide a resource for real politics and they do not stand for a clear political profile. This was stated by the BSP leader Mihail Mikov to red activists at a seminar in Plovdiv.
As socialists, we must be much more actively aware of the mood in society, urged Mikov. And he called on the main party organizations “to get out of the apartments and smoky clubs” to show the citizens that the left is an alternative and gives perspective.
“The BSP has categorically proved that it can withstand long-term political repressions by representatives of the right – both in 1991-1997 by the SDS and now by GERB. This is because, unlike them, the BSP is an ideological party,” said the social leader , says “24 hours”. Besides, we are democratic, he added. And he explained that “democracy has its price and the BSP bears it regularly”. But the democratic discussion should not be confused with disagreement, and sometimes with the attempt to make individual appearances on the back of the party, he warned.
On the occasion of GERB, Mikov made an analogy with NDSV and UDS – “parties with charismatic elections that gather a lot of public energy, gain power and form a clientele, but then run away after the expiry date”.
Mikov also analyzed the relations between the BSP and the DPS, clarifying that in this matter as well he steps on an ideological and political basis. “The last year has seen that when the incompatibility between liberal and socialist values causes us to back down, the consequences are severe,” he said.
Mikov criticized the media, which did not properly cover the BSP in opposition. We are not angry, such are the circumstances, but we must also look for other opportunities for objective coverage and other channels for reaching people and forming attitudes, he said.
We have a great chance that Sergey is the leader of PES and we must use these opportunities. But greater commitment is needed, because this resource is valuable and must be used, the social leader added.
