The Vitorian corridor, Mikel Landa has been the winner of the Cycling Tour of Burgos that has finished with the fifth stage in the Neila Lagoons. Romain Bardet, until now leader of the Burgos round, broke down in the final ascent and finished one minute and 54 seconds behind the winner of the stage, the British John Carthy.
As expected, there was a long escape made up of six runners, among which stood out Gonzalo Serrano from Movistar that got to have more than six minutes of advantage with respect to the peloton.
With three kilometers to go to the finish line came the final attacks and the first problems were seen for the French Bardet that, little by little, was giving time.
Above the attack of Carthy It was enough to achieve the victory, Landa entered sixth giving 16 seconds and he only had to wait to certify the disaster of Bardet. The second classified in the general has been the Italian Fabio Aru and the third the Ukrainian Padun.
Cycling will continue to be the protagonist in Burgos with the start of the Back to Spain starting next Saturday.
