Mikel Arteta’s time as Arsenal boss could end after home loss to Burnley, says Darren Bent

Arsenal fan Darren Bent fears for Mikel Arteta’s future following a 1-0 loss to Burnley on Sunday.

An own goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang condemned the Gunners to their fourth loss in five Premier League games to place them 15th on the table.

Pressure continues to mount on Arteta

Arsenal played the remaining 32 minutes with 10 men when Granit Xhaka received a red card, after a VAR review, for putting her hands around Ashley Westwood’s neck.

In addition to their poor form, Arsenal have received twice as many red cards (6) as any other Premier League club since Arteta took over last year.

And the former Tottenham forward Bent believes Arteta’s time in charge of the Gunners may be over.

He told Darren Bent’s Boot Room on talkSPORT: “Listen, I love Arteta and I think she’s done great things there.

“But this performance here, losing to Burnley the way they’ve done it, the discipline issues, the people getting kicked out, I think maybe his time is up.”

When asked if he wanted Arteta to leave, Bent added: “Yes. I really don’t like saying that because I wanted to give it a try.

“He did great things so fast by winning trophies [the FA Cup and Community Shield].

“But when you lose to Burnley, today’s performance and the way the team is doing, Aubameyang’s form, the [Mesut] Ozil’s situation, the red cards, I think potentially now his time is up.
