Mike Ybarra wants to revive BlizzCon in 2023

Blizzard is now on its knees for several reasons and recently Mike Ybarra had to take on the CEO position at the wounded company. Blizzard Activision is also under acquisition of Microsoft and the deal (if all goes well) will be completed sometime next year. Before this happens, Ybarra says that they plan to revive BlizzCon, which he announces in an interview with LA Times.

“We previously announced we’re taking a pause on BlizzCon while we reimagine it for the future but do want to return to a live event that enables us to celebrate the community,”

“We recently hired a new leader of BlizzCon, April McKee, who is hard at work on that plan. … We are committed to bringing back BlizzCon in 2023.”

BlizzCon is usually held in California, but due to pandemics and other things, it has not been able to be held physically since 2019. In 2021, Blizzard ran digital conferences and it was also thought that they would run the same concept in 2022. However, this was canceled due to the allegations of sexual harassment and generally poor working conditions at the company.
