Mike Tyson Beats Airplane Passenger, Arrests and Releases All

SAN FRANCISCO, KOMPAS.com – Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson caught beating a passenger in the cabin of an airplane at San Francisco International Airport, USA, on Wednesday (20/4/2022).

In the video, Tyson can be seen repeatedly beating a man behind him, as reported by Associated Press, Thursday (21/4/2022).

The footage was first shared by TMZ. The media reported that the incident was recorded aboard a Jet Blue flight bound for Florida.

“Unfortunately, Tyson had an on-flight incident with an aggressive passenger who began to harass him and threw a water bottle at him while he was sitting in his seat,” a Tyson representative said in a statement. e-mail to Associated Press.

Before the beating took place, the man stood up, waved his hand and shouted while Tyson sat quietly.

San Francisco police responded Wednesday at around 10 p.m. local time to a “physical altercation” onboard the plane at the airport’s domestic terminal.

“Officers arrived and detained two people suspected of being involved in the incident. One subject was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries,” the San Francisco Police said.

“The subject provided minimal details about the incident and declined to cooperate further with the police investigation,” San Francisco Police said.

San Francisco Police added that the two were released pending further investigation.

Another passenger on the flight, Sarah Burchfield, said she saw the man Tyson hit in the airport bar earlier.

The man, according to Burchfield’s confession, liked to quarrel and make noise.

“When I got on the plane, I said to myself, ‘Oh no, that drunk guy is on our flight’,” Burchfield told SFGate.

Burchfield said when he got into the cabin he passed Tyson’s seat in the first class section of the plane.

“The guy was sitting right behind him (Tyson) and I watched them interact,” he said. Not long after, he heard of a confrontation in first grade.

San Francisco Police said the video had been shared with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, which has jurisdiction over the airport.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said it had not released any information about the incident as it was under active investigation.
