Valencia
Mike Tobey will no longer be linked to Valencia Basket next season, so the American center ends his time at the Club once his contract has ended after five seasons as a taronja. Tobey arrived in Valencia for the first time with a temporary contract to join the squad that was proclaimed champion of the 2016-17 Endesa League and after a course at Lenovo Tenerife, he returned to Valencia in the summer of 2018 to play the last four seasons defending the taronja. A journey in which he extended his record with the title of the 7DAYS EuroCup 2018-19. Tobey is also the third American player with the most games played in the history of Valencia Basket, with 227 games.
Mike Tobey’s first landing in Valencia was in March 2017 when he arrived at the taronja team with a temporary contract after debuting in professional basketball between the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA and the Greensboro Swarn of the NBDL. In that first campaign he was only able to play three games before getting injured but he contributed to the Endesa League title achieved by the taronja team in 2017. After a season of consolidation at Lenovo Tenerife, Mike returned to Valencia in the summer of 2018 to start a second journey that has been four seasons. In the first one, Tobey was an indispensable part of the team that won the 7DAYS EuroCup title in the 2018-19 season. Overall in his five seasons as a taronja player, his numbers have been 8.8 points and 4.8 rebounds for 10.2 PIR credits.
The 227 games in which Mike Tobey has defended the colors of Valencia Basket allow him to rank 17th in the history of games played with the taronja shirt. A figure that also makes him the third player born in the United States with the most games played with Valencia Basket behind Bernard Hopkins (285) and Brad Branson (230).
