A female dog suffering from cancer in the Mühldorf am Inn district only barely survived – thanks to a blood donation from the German shepherd Mike.
Laika, the twelve-year-old mixed breed dog from the Eisbrenners from Polling (Mühldorf district), was lucky. She almost died of a burst tumor, bleeding to death inside. Emergency surgery has to be done, it is the only chance to save the dog. It is also important to find a “blood donor dog” in order to increase the chances of success for a successful treatment by about 30 to 40 percent through a blood transfusion.
The Eisbrenners are called via social media and WhatsApp – with a huge, unexpected response. “It was overwhelming how many people got in touch and wanted to help,” says Gabi Eisbrenner. The Pollingen entrepreneur Manfred Thaler got in touch just five minutes later and immediately drove his Belgian shepherd “Mike” to Töging to have his blood drawn for Laika.
