He is the one who has been named the man of the rebirth of Jeep, the iconic brand of the former Italian-American group FCA, which today, with PSA, has formed the giant Stellantis. We are talking about Mike Manley che, after 20 years of work for FCA, today he gives his final farewell, he will have ‘only’ a symbolic place on the Board of Directors of the Stellantis Foundation.
The manager changes roles and, starting from November 1st, will be in charge of AutoNation, Florida, which is famous for being the largest auto dealer in the United States. A real American ‘giant’, which boasts record numbers, selling more than 13 million machines every year, a figure that practically exceeds the entire European market. A very important step for Manley, a businessman of English nationality, who for years was the right-hand man of the late Sergio Marchionne, the manager who revolutionized Fiat.
When Marchionne passed away in 2018, leaving a great void, Manley has been appointed CEO of FCA. The position of CEO, after the merger between FCA and PSA officially took place in January 2021, passed into the hands of Carlos Tavares, who took over all the American activities of the group. Stellantis Executive Committee members Mark Stewart (chief operating officer of North America) and Antonio Filosa (chief operating officer of South America) will continue their work, headed by Tavares.
Mike Manley’s farewell words: “After 20 amazing, inspiring and fun years, and with Stellantis starting really strong under Carlos’ guidance, it is time for me to start a new chapter. Working with Carlos to create this extraordinary company, with the constant support of our shareholders, has been an enormous privilege both professionally and personally ”.
FCA President John Elkann points out, “I want to thank Mike for everything he has done with us in the last 20 years. The years spent driving Jeep were fundamental for the transformation of the brand and then, as CEO of FCA, he led the company to achieve record results in one of the most difficult periods in its history. Working closely with Carlos, he was instrumental in the creation and successful launch of Stellantis. We wish him the best in his new role ”.
