Mike Maignan have to undergo surgery and make AC Milan in a goalkeeper crisis situation. The Rossoneri are now trying to sign Antonio Mirante as a solution.
Maignan was on the bench for the French national team when he won the UEFA Nations League after beating Spain 2-1, Monday (11/10/2021) early morning WIB. Sky Sport Italia reports that Milan have revealed that the goalkeeper continues to complain of pain in his left wrist.
This injury was first experienced when he parried the ball from Mohamed Salah’s penalty in a 2-3 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League. Mainnan uses both hands for support when dropping the body.
The situation is so serious that, after consulting specialists, Maignan will undergo minor surgery with Professor Loris Pegoli. Arthroscopic surgery is scheduled to take place, Wednesday (13/10/2021) local time.
It is not clear how long the former Lille goalkeeper will be out. Some media said that it took about two weeks for Maignan to be out of the field after undergoing surgery.
Milan is in a goalkeeper crisis situation as Alessandro Plizzari is out until January 2022 after undergoing knee surgery. Ciprian Tatarusanu is the only goalkeeper available.
Mirante is now being touted as an alternative after a video with AC Milan director, Paolo Maldini, went viral on social media. Mirante is currently 38 years old and is without a club after playing for AS Roma.
Mirante is believed to be signing a contract for AC Milan until the end of the season. There are also reports that there is an option to extend it for another year.
Milan this weekend will host Hellas Verona in the Italian League continued. A few days later, they traveled to FC Porto’s headquarters in the Champions League.
