UNITED STATES.- Mike Hagerty, star of Friends and Curb Your Enthusiasm, has died at the age of 67.
Comedian Bridget Everett, who stars in the HBO series Somebody Somewhere alongside Hegarty, shared the news of her death on Instagram on Friday (May 6).
“It is with great sadness that the family of Michael G Hagerty announced his death yesterday in Los Angeles. A beloved character actor, his love for his hometown of Chicago and his family were the cornerstones of his life,” he wrote. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Hagerty was best known for his role as Mr. Treeger on Friends. He was the doorman for Monica, Rachel, Joey, and Chandler’s building and first appeared in the episode The One Where Heckles Dies, when the group of friends is cleaning out Mr. Heckles’ apartment.
His most popular appearance among Friends fans was probably in the episode The One With the Ballroom Dancing, in which Joey agreed to help Mr. Treeger practice his ballroom dancing to appease him after he threatened to kick Monica out and Rachel from her apartment for illegal subletting.
Hagerty is survived by his wife Mary Kathryn and his sister Mary Ann.
