In June, when he was introduced as coach of the Kings de Sacramento, Mike Brown He made no big promises or predictions.
He talked about work, culture and victories.
“One of the main reasons they brought me here was to provide some leadership,” Brown said that day.
It turns out that no quarterback did a better job of leading this season. On Wednesday, Brown unanimously won the Coach of the Year award at the NBA.
The decision was expected, after in his first season in Sacramento he led the Kings to the playoffs, something they hadn’t done since 2006. A panel of reporters and commentators 100 voters put Brown at the top of the ballot.
“These honors don’t come around that often, so you have to appreciate them,” Brown said during the TNT broadcast announcing the award. “I really appreciate being in Sacramento. The fans and the city have been fantastic.”
Brown won the award for the second time. In the 2008-2009 season, he turned himself in after leading LeBron James and Cleveland to a 66-16 record.
