central- Once again, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati prove that they form one team, outside of which, of course, there can be no Hezbollah, according to what opposition political sources say to Markazia.
This team agreed to normalize the vacancy and to intensify the work of the constitutional institutions, as if there was no vacancy in the first presidency. Speaker Berri failed in his attempt to open the doors of the parliament for legislation, but Mikati succeeded in holding cabinet sessions, and he cooperated in that with the ministers of the Shiite duo who attend all sessions.
The second point of convergence, according to the sources, was the issue of the extension of the Director General of General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim. At the time of Berri’s refusal to extend it, even if he did not express his desire not to extend it, publicly, taking advantage of the Christian representatives’ refusal to participate in the necessary legislative session to issue a law to extend Ibrahim, Mikati did not deviate from this Shiite approach, but rather met him in the middle of the road. After assigning a legal committee to study the issue of extending Ibrahim through the Council of Ministers, Mikati said that it is impossible. And he decided to shake his hand from this issue in the government session last Monday, where he informed the ministers that an extension is not possible because it needs a law, and he also enumerated Ibrahim’s exploits in what is like confirming the end of his services in his position, and he talked about his “advantages, offerings and bids for the homeland,” stressing that “the cabinet He can do nothing to extend it under the law.
In addition, the intersection between Berri and Mikati cannot be overlooked in the Capital Control file, for example, and in the issue of the financial recovery plan proposed by the government, which the Speaker is pushing for approval in the committees and looks forward to holding legislative sessions for parliamentary approval as well.
Proceeding from here, the sources say that the trio, Berri – Mikati – Hezbollah, has indeed become, with tangible evidence and performance, one team that has close approaches to the extent of conformity to most of the fat issues and files inside, especially since Mikati also announced that the head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh, is his preferred candidate. to the presidency of the republic.
From the foregoing, it can be said that Mikati, who adhered strongly to the Shiite duo, will be his most prominent candidate for prime minister, in case he wishes, of course, to do so, noting that he announced that he does not want to return to this position in the next stage. However, this situation, of course, has greatly reduced its shares with the international community and the Gulf states, who see it as an extension of Hezbollah. Accordingly, his return to the Serail will not be facilitated or desirable externally after the presidential elections, unless the entitlement takes place within a settlement that notes a role for Iran and the party in it, specifically in heading the government, the sources conclude.
