Mikael Ruohomaa leaves Modo for Frölunda, reveals Örnsköldsvik’s Allehanda.
The star signing has not caused it to loosen up with the SHL newcomer.
Both clubs have also confirmed that the transfer is complete.
According to reports, Mikael Ruohomaa did not enjoy the first half of the season in Modo.
The 35-year-old Finnish center has also been affected by both injury problems and has had difficulty functioning in terms of play.
Örnsköldsvik’s Allehanda writes: “Just like in Leksand, it has not been completely painless between players and management”.
Modo themselves announce: “Modo and Mikael Ruohomaa have in consultation agreed on a solution that we believe is best both for him and for the club and the center is leaving today.”
Looked for center all season
Frölunda, in turn, has throughout the season been looking to find a leading center to build the team.
In addition, the center Gustav Rydahl has been withdrawn with injury problems in the Gothenburg club.
– We have been looking for a center and found a solution in Mikael Ruohomaa. An experienced and offensively skilled player who we know has qualities. He will help us in the offensive and in the power play, says sporting director Fredrik Sjöström.
“Ready to play right away”
According to the local newspaper, Mikael Ruohomaa himself has pushed for a move to Frölunda.
– Frölunda is one of the best clubs in the league and the club always has the ambition to win something. I have offensive upside and want to help my wings get better. I’m ready to play straight away, says Mikael Ruohomaa.
At Modo, he was a prestige signing, the first center wanted to lead the team to survive as a newcomer.
Modo now needs to bring in a replacement for the rest of the season.
Mikael Ruohomaa joins Frölunda’s squad on Wednesday and has signed a contract for the rest of the season.
