Mika Zibanejad continues to be the NHL’s best scorer in Sweden.
Already after four minutes, the 28-year-old had the chance to crack the goal zero in the meeting with Detroit in Madison Square garden when he came free with goalkeeper Thomas Greiss who provided a nice save.
The goal, however, would come for the Rangers. And it was Zibanejad who did it when he got a direct shot in game five against three in the middle of the first period.
The goal was Zibanejad’s 28th full hit this season and meant that he breaks his previous points record from the 2019/20 season.
And the Swede was not happy there.
In the second period, Zibanejad played until Frank Vatarano’s 2-0 goal, which meant the Swede’s 77 points for the season.
– We came out strong from the start. Most of the match was good and we did very good things, says Zibanejad to ESPN.
The New York Rangers eventually won 4-0. The team is third in the Eastern Conference with six games left in the NHL’s regular season.
