/ world today news/ Mihail Mikov took part in a discussion on changing the tax system, which was held in auditorium 65 of Sofia University on Friday.

It was part of the civil initiative “Let’s stop the inequality machine” to introduce a tax-free minimum for income up to the minimum wage for all working people and to reduce VAT on basic and children’s food, medicine, water, textbooks and books.

The MEP from SYRIZA Kosatdinka Kuneva, the president of KT “Podkrepa” Dimitar Manolov, the chairman of “Solidary Bulgaria” association Vanya Grigorova, Prof. Gancho Ganchev, Prof. Ivan Angelov, Prof. Vasil Prodanov, Assoc. Ivo Indjov, Assoc. Maria Pirgova, political scientists, sociologists, journalists and other scientists and intellectuals.

Mikov called on the organizers of the campaign to come out of the universities in Sofia and lead a debate and explanatory campaign around the country. He gave an example of his own experience and the hundreds of meetings before the last local elections, when it became clear from the conversations that people are largely ignorant of the tax system, do not distinguish between progressive and flat taxation.

“Ideas should reach not the experts, but those Bulgarian citizens who will be able to benefit from leva and twenty – leva and fifty more on the table every day,” said the politician.

Mihail Mikov is one of the first to support the initiative of “Solidary Bulgaria”, KT “Support”, the Autonomous Workers’ Union, “Barricade” and several other non-governmental organizations.

The collection of signatures for the petition to change the tax system continues and they will be submitted to the National Assembly at the beginning of November. The petition can be signed online at
