Horácká Slavia gained a new leader in its defense: two weeks before the first round of the Chance League, they brought in the Slovenian representative Miha Štebih, who is returning to the Czech Republic after four seasons.
Štebih last worked in Nice, France: in 48 games last year, he collected a great 24 points (4+20). In addition, he extended the season by participating in the World Cup – he started for Slovenia in all seven matches in the group, but did not prevent relegation to the lower division.
Since then he has been looking for work. In the end, he returns to the Chance League, where in the past he was successful in Jihlava and also briefly played for Slavia Prague and Frýdek-Místek.
Now he will wear the Třebíč jersey, with which he has been training since Friday. “We wanted to get quality, because experienced players such as Jirka Hunkes and Lukáš Forman left after last season, as well as the talented David Tureček,” says Horácká Slavia’s coach Kamil Pokorný on the website. “We were patient and managed to sign Miha Štebih. “
“He knows Czech and played our competition for many years.”
“This is a defender who is skilled all over, can score points and at the same time uses his height and excellent physical parameters for good defensive activity,” Pokorný mentions Štebih’s figure, who is 190 centimeters tall and weighs 91 kilograms.
“He is a great reinforcement for us and we believe he will prove it on the ice as well,” adds Pokorný about the 31-year-old native of Maribor. “We would like him to help the younger players together with experienced players such as Tonda Bořuta, Michal Furch and Lukáš Kříž and improved our defense.”
Štebih, who has 296 starts in the first league statistics to date, during which he scored 32 goals and assisted 65, signed a one-year contract with Třebíčí for the time being.
“The fact that Chance already has considerable experience with the league also played a role in his engagement, so his time and adaptation with us will be minimal. He speaks Czech and played our competition for many years,” adds Pokorný for hstrebic.cz.
