The Examining Court No. 3 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, following a complaint by United we can, has dictated a car in which he imputes ex-mayor Miguel Zerolo, currently in prison for the Las Teresitas case, already Pablo Abril Martorell Fernandez, former CEO of Emmasa, for alleged crimes of prevarication and embezzlement of public funds.
According to the complaint by United We Can, both agreed in the Board of Directors of Emmasa the illegal return of the canon of 59 million that Sacyr-Vallehermoso had paid to the Santa Cruz City Council for the infrastructures of the water service company in the capital of Tenerife.
This was explained at a press conference by the spokesperson for United We Can, Ramon Trujillor, together with the councilor of this municipal group Dolores Espinosa and the lawyers Jose Perez Ventura, writer of the complaint, and Antonio Espinosa.
Both Trujillo and Pérez Ventura branded this alleged corruption case as “even more serious than Las Teresitas“, being the amount greater than in the” book hit “committed with the beach plots. The City Council has already returned 33 of the 59 million that it had paid in 2005 as a fee for Emmasa.

Both recalled that payments to Sacyr, through Emmasa, went unnoticed at municipal controls until a municipal report in March 2019 reported that they had not found documentary support for the debt, a conclusion similar to that of a new report. in 2020, which reiterated that there was no document to support the payment, and that the debt in favor of Sacyr had been taken “unilaterally” and without contractual support.
The complaint was first filed with the Prosecutor’s Office, but in the face of fear of prescription of crimes, Unidos Podemos decided to report the events directly to the Court, what issued the order in the middle of this month of April, just one day before the crimes were prescribed to the only two people who have been able to be prosecuted according to this criterion. In any case, the Office of the Prosecutor finally filed a complaint as well.
As a result of the seriousness of the events, Trujillo announced that Unidos Podemos will appear in this cause, demanded that the City Council do the same Y will also request a municipal investigation commission on these facts “to also clarify how it is possible that for so many these millionaire annual payments, despite being illegal, they circumvented the technical controls of the City Council.”
