Miguel Oliveira confirmed this Sunday that he has finished the MotoGP season, after fracturing his right shoulder blade during the Sprint race at the Qatar Grand Prix. The Portuguese driver does not need surgery, but he will not recover in time for the Valencia Grand Prix that closes the current season. A year to forget for the RNF Aprilia driver who will start the new season with a penalty.
On the very day of the crash, Miguel Oliveira still harbored the «desire to continue building a dream», but this Sunday he assumed that he would fail not only the Valencia Grand Prix, but also the tests that were reserved for the following days with the Aprilia 2023. «Unfortunately, it seems that I will fail the race, the test, and that’s it, my last laps of this fantastic season have come to an end», he assumed.
Despite the fracture, Miguel Oliveira also revealed that he will not have to undergo surgery. «It looks like no, I won’t need an operation. It takes some time for the bone to solidify, then we will see what lies ahead in terms of tendons and the shoulder area. Let’s see what happens», he also highlighted.
But this is not the only bad news for Miguel Oliveira. The Portuguese driver, in the accident in which he fractured his shoulder blade, ended up knocking down the Spaniard Aleix Espargaró and the Italian Enea Bastianini. Miguel Oliveira was considered “irresponsible” by the stewards who analyzed the accident and will have to serve a penalty with a long lap in the next race, that is, next season.
