Miguel Layún lived for more than four years the experience of competing in prestigious clubs in European football. He played in three different leagues, including the English Premier League and the Spanish LaLiga. It was during this stage that he showed his best football version, thanks to his physical preparation, but also to the work methodology that is customary in the old continent.
In a chat with Futbol Total, he shared with us the differences between the methods that are used in our Mexican football, contrasted with the European requirement. He believes that technical bodies such as that of Santiago Solari, who directed Real Madrid and today leads Club América, help to narrow the gap in terms of the requirement of preparation.

European requirement in America
“In Europe the intensity of the training sessions is brutal. They are not very long, but they are very intense. It is a reflection of what you see in the matches, which are with high intensity, a different pace of play, not so slow, and in the end the player must be prepared in the best way in every way, especially physically.
“It gives me great pleasure to have technical bodies like the one in America, people with a school in Europe in terms of methodology and demands. Our workouts are of significant intensity and allow us to get closer to improving day by day.
“Although Europe is years ahead of us, having returned to Mexico and finding Solari’s coaching staff, It allows us to reduce that distance, because the work methodology is similar to the one there. The more intensity there is, the better we must take care of our body ”, explained the champion of the Primeira Liga de Portugal in the 2017-18 season with Porto.

“It is no longer enough to just have talent”
He noted that, thanks to his improved physical preparation, he improved his physical performance and avoided serious injuries in his European career. Despite your talent, I knew that adequate supplementation was important, because talent alone is not enough.
“You come across teams like Puebla, which is physically very powerful, competing with a good tactical standing, rivals with whom just having talent is no longer enough. You must prepare yourself in the rest of the areas, and in this case, physical preparation, including supplementation, is essential.
“You can have talent, but if you compete with an opponent who has made a greater effort than you in the rest, he will compete with you even though you have more talent than him. You must be prepared in the best way in every way ”, emphasized the now experienced winger from Las Águilas.
