“Miguel Cabrera Leads Tigers’ Comeback Victory Against Giants”

Miguel Cabrera’s game-winning single in the 11th inning was the final push as the Detroit Tigers rallied from a five-run deficit to beat the San Francisco Giants 7-6 on Saturday.

Taylor Rodgers (0-2) led off the 11th with a wild pitch and Spencer Torkelson reached third. With his drive to the center, Cabrera reached 3,095 hits, with a score by Torkelson.

Chasen Shreve (1-1) got the win with five Detroit relievers combining to pitch a seven-inning shutout.

The Tigers trailed 6-1 after three innings and were still down 6-3 in the eighth, but Nick Maton singled off John Brebbia and Riley Greene walked. Puerto Rican Javier Báez fouled with two strikes before hitting a two-run double to make it 6-5.

Kerry Carpenter’s fly ball brought Baez to third and Torkelson tied the game.

Starter Anthony DeScalfani allowed three runs—two earned—on six hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out five and didn’t walk any.

For the Giants, Puerto Rican Heliot Ramos 1-0. Venezuelans Thairo Estrada 6-2 with a run scored, Wilmer Flores 5-1.

For the Tigers, Puerto Rican Báez went 5-2 with one run scored and two RBIs. Venezuelan Miguel Cabrera 1-1 with an RBI.
