(ANSA) – CROTONE, 04 NOV – There are 26 minors and 20 women, four of whom are pregnant, among the 99 people rescued this evening by the Coast Guard and taken to the port of Crotone. They were on board a 16-metre sailing vessel when they were intercepted 30 miles south of Crotone by a patrol boat from the Port Authority. Given the difficulty of navigating the sailing ship and the large number of people on board, the crew of the Coast Guard unit took steps to tranship all the migrants and set course for the port of Crotone, where it arrived in the evening. . The disembarkation operations, coordinated by the Prefecture of Crotone, were managed by the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters. Most of the migrants, who left Turkey four days ago, arrive from Afghanistan. Among them 50 men, 19 women and 26 minors, six of whom were unaccompanied. With them there were also an Algerian woman and three Iranian men. The health conditions of the migrants, including those of the four pregnant women, were assessed as good by the health staff of the Vulnerability Office of the Provincial Health Authority of Crotone. Only one Afghan citizen needed hospitalization due to severe dehydration. After disembarking, the migrants were transferred to the reception center on Isola Capo Rizzuto. (HANDLE).
