“Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Celebrating 30 Years of Nostalgia with the Original Cast on Netflix”

Even in the Czech Republic, there wasn’t a child who didn’t run around the park with his fingers intertwined, who didn’t fight imaginary morphelins and who didn’t summon megazords on his strict parents. So great was the series from the Israeli-American couple Haim Saban and Shuki Levy.

The success of the series was followed by toys, theme parks and several sequels, either in film or television.

The Guardians functioned as role models for teamwork, friendship, and last but not least, offered an ethnically diverse cast that we would probably give them a long standing ovation for nowadays. The creators have now got a unique opportunity to move their colorful heroes forward on the occasion of the log. Except for one five-year-old attempt, the characters from the town of Angel Grove were frozen in the nineties.

The Netflix video library has sent a wave of nostalgia and purchased a special episode with the original cast.

But the rangers obviously like it there. Eight years ago, they confirmed it with a free sequel with the subtitle Dino Charge, which is perhaps even more bizarre than the original series. And as for the star-studded film adaptation (with names like Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks or Bill Hader), the reception from critics was mixed, even negative. But perhaps the biggest part of the brand lies precisely in the B concept, which the creative team does not give up.

We still get extremely bad acting or random panoramas of explosions and questionable combat techniques with villains dumber than a squad of stormtroopers. In addition to all this, let’s remember that only the tremendous success of the series brought similar content to more mature viewers. Originally, it was logically aimed at children.

Return to nostalgia.

Through the lens of a 90-year-old teenager who grew up on Strážy, the thirty-year celebration seems to impress exactly as Netflix’s financial department intended. Now, a grown-up fan might recognize actors from the original cast, appreciate the flashbacks and references to others absent from the special for various reasons.

Or he watches it just out of pure interest in the show that for a while guided his childhood. After all, there is nothing more beautiful than to shamelessly swallow such stupidity as the Guardians of the Universe were and are after thirty. And exactly in the format that the audience is familiar with.

The traditional fan is lining up.

If the disciples of mentor Zordon were to move closer to today’s Avengers, Transformers and the like, they would get rid of the only trump card they powerfully hold in their hands. The Guardians of the Universe do not belong in the new millennium.

And if their creators were to try to revive the brand again with expensive effects and a meaningful story, they would no longer be the same heroes. A nostalgic memory with the iconic opening song by Ron Wasserman is worth its weight in gold once and for all.
