Mietków tank failed? Sutryk denies – Wprost

Jacek Sutryk reported a “burst in the Mietków reservoir embankment” during a meeting of the crisis team. He added that it was necessary to quickly evacuate people from the threatened area. Shortly afterwards, the mayor of the Mietków commune wrote on social media that he knew nothing about it, and Sutryk himself had to deny his earlier statement.

What about the reservoir in Mietków? Jacek Sutryk denies

“We don’t know anything about it! My people in Chwałów, Domanice, or Mietków haven’t found any leaks yet,” wrote Tomasz Sakuta, mayor of the Mietków commune, on Facebook. “Wody Polskie is verifying the information provided earlier that the embankment of the pumping station in Mietków has burst. This is not the Mietków reservoir. This is a different place,” declared Jacek Sutryk in response.

The commotion around the reservoir in Mietków does not change the fact that two hours earlier, an evacuation of the population was ordered in the Kąty Wrocławskie commune. This was justified by the rising water level in Bystryzca, the overflow of the aforementioned reservoir and… information chaos.

“Due to the constantly rising water level in the Bystrzyca River, the overflowing retention reservoir in Mietków and the lack of consistent information regarding the indications on this reservoir, after consultation with the national and district crisis management team, the Mayor of the City and Commune of Kąty Wrocławskie recommends the evacuation of residents from the threatened areas,” we read in the announcement.

Traffic chaos. Residents angry at the mayor of Wrocław

It is easy to guess that providing false information has enraged internet users from the Wrocław area. “Such information is a kind of cosmos for us, residents. Emotions, shock and searching for the place where the threat comes from. We appeal for caution in messages!” – wrote Ms. Krystyna.

“Such unverified information in the live headquarters is a misunderstanding. You say not to panic, and you are causing panic yourself. On top of that, the text about big bags, helicopters and evacuation… People were not scared at all. They say we are supposed to use verified sources, so stick to that too,” Kasia recommended.

“Mr. President, please think first about what you are saying, where you are getting this information from. People are in fear. How are they supposed to receive reliable information, how are you spreading disinformation!? For the surrounding villages, which are on the front line, this is a tragedy,” added Mrs. Małgorzata.
