Midwives and obstetricians continue to receive grants for postpartum care and obstetrics. As the city announced, the city council decided on the financial means of 200,000 euros each for the current and the coming year and passed a new funding guideline as the legal basis.
The amount of funding has not changed compared to previous years: There is a one-time grant of 30 euros for each postpartum care. Each birth started in a birthing center or in a practice is supported by the city with 100 euros and a home birth or document birth in a hospital with 200 euros. The prerequisite for funding is that the main residence of the mother or the child born is Dresden. In addition, midwives and obstetricians must have already registered the self-employed activity with the health department.
Midwives or obstetricians can apply for funding themselves. You have to submit a separate application for each child in care. The application form and further information are available at www.dresden.de
119 midwives and obstetricians took advantage of the funding last year. The health department received 2,660 applications. This corresponded to a funding amount of almost 150,000 euros.
