Ahmed Hossam “Mido”, former Zamalek star, called for postponing the match between Al-Ahly and Moroccan Wydad in the semi-final second leg of the African Champions League.
Mido wrote a number of tweets through his Twitter account. The first tweet came as follows: “Greetings to Zamalek for not objecting to postponing the meeting..the human aspect is more important than any tournament, and this is our morals and we should be proud of it.”
Then he added: “And if the injuries were with us, we would have hoped that the competitor would have the same morals … we do what we see is correct and fair, and in the end the result is for our Lord..and I am sure if we do this, we will win.”
Then he asked to postpone the Al-Ahly and Wydad meeting, scheduled for next Friday, and said: “The African Union must postpone Al-Ahly and Al-Wadad in order to remain in equal chances in the final with regard to giving an equal number of days of recovery to the final two parties..If the decision remains 100 100 if the African Union insists on Playing the Al-Ahly and Wydad match on time, Zamalek will have to say no !!
Regarding Zamalek’s position on postponing the match with the Raja team, which suffers from Corona injuries, “Mido” said: “Zamalek must agree to the postponement because this is our morals and our relationship with our Moroccan sisters is more important than anything, but the Al-Ahly and Wydad match must be postponed in order to apply justice to all teams.
The Moroccan Ministry of Health had imposed a quarantine on Raja players for a week, after injuries among the team reached eight cases, and thus the chances of holding the match against Zamalek on next Saturday will be almost non-existent.
While the Wydad team arrived in Cairo yesterday to face Al-Ahly on Friday after they lost the first leg at home 2-0 to the Red Genie.
