Midis moved 19 tons of food for victims of La Libertad – News from Trujillo, La Libertad, Peru

Minister Demartini led a delegation that brought aid to the population affected by the rains and floods.

The Government transferred today to the La Libertad region 19 tons of food and other humanitarian aid goods for families affected by the floods and heavy rains that have been recorded in recent days in northern Peru.

The head of the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis), Julio Demartini Montes, representing the Executive Branch, led the delegation that transferred said aid to the city of Trujillo and, from there, to the rest of La Libertad.

“President Dina Boluarte ordered the Midis to be in charge of articulating the actions in La Libertad, that is why we are in coordination with the regional governor, César Acuña, and with the provincial and district mayors to attend to the victims as soon as possible,” he stressed. the minister.

“With a human face”

For his part, the regional governor César Acuña said that sending this support is a confirmation that the Government “has a human face, is working for the people most in need and shows that difficulties will never stop us.”

The cargo was transported in a Peruvian Air Force (FAP) aircraft from Air Group No. 8 to the Capitán FAP Carlos Martínez de Pinillos airport, in Trujillo.

There, the minister and the regional governor, with the support of staff from the La Libertad Regional Emergency Operations Center (COER) and the National Civil Defense Institute, coordinated the transfer to the areas most affected by the heavy rains.

The minister recalled that on Saturday, March 11, he was in La Libertad together with President Dina Boluarte to supervise the care work for the victims.

With today’s trip, the Government complies with a first delivery of 19 tons of food. Additionally, “non-food donations will be sent that will serve to mitigate the effects of this climatic phenomenon in La Libertad.”
