The assessment of Siegfried Hecker, former director of the weapons systems laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is similar. The two American scientists clarify that in order to build a nuclear bomb, Iran will need to have a sufficient amount of enriched uranium at its disposal.
A special process, with great care, would then be required for the enriched uranium to be placed in the heart of an atomic bomb, which in turn would be assembled with other parts of a nuclear warhead that would be placed in a rocket.
The whole process is more difficult than expected, added Dr. Hacker.
